Instagram DM response time: five ways to reply faster
Everyone knows answering late is bad, but few know exactly how late they answer. Without measuring, “getting faster” is only a wish.
This article first says what to measure, then gives five practical ways to get faster, and finally says where the shagerdAi panel helps and where it does not yet. For ready replies, see 30 ready-made replies.
Why does speed matter?
A customer messages when they are thinking about the product. The later you answer, the more their attention drifts and the likelier they compare elsewhere. A story reply also has a short life; see the story reply guide.
There is no exact figure for the effect of speed on sales and we will not invent statistics. What can be said is that a fast, correct answer never hurts, and Meta’s 24-hour rule makes part of it mandatory: the 24-hour rule.
What should you measure?
The number of unanswered conversations
At the end of the day, how many conversations still wait for your answer? This simple number helps more than any other statistic.
The gap from first message to first reply
On your last ten conversations compare the customer’s message time with your reply time. You do not need an average; look at the worst cases.
The share of repeated questions
What percentage of messages is the same five usual questions? That shows how much can be automated.
Five practical ways to get faster
Rules for the five most repeated questions
Price, shipping, opening hours, address, how to order. Automate them with a keyword rule.
Fixed times for the inbox
If you are one person, three or four fixed slots a day beat constant checking. Day-to-day DM management.
Saved texts for the rest
Keep ready the replies that are still manual and change only the name and product.
Hot conversations first
Answer the person who wrote “I want to buy” before informational questions.
Set the right expectation
An away or welcome message with the real reply time reduces worry. Welcome and away messages.
How does the shagerdAi panel help?
Read and unread
On each conversation you see whether it has been read and what the last message was.
Last reply badge
You can tell whether the last reply came from a rule, the panel, Telegram or Instagram itself.
Search and conversation lock
Search by name or text, and a conversation lock so two channels do not reply at the same time.
Optional Telegram
If you connect Telegram, messages also arrive in separate topics and you can reply from there. The panel works without it too.
What is not there yet?
Browser push and sound notifications are not in the current version, so if the panel is closed you will not hear about a message. Telegram can fill that gap for you, or you need to look at the inbox regularly.
SMS is only for the login code and the balance alert, not for a new customer message. So for speed, your own discipline matters more than the tool.
Q&A
What counts as a “fast” reply?
There is no magic number. A reasonable goal is that hot conversations get an answer in the first few hours and all within 24 hours.
What if I do not answer at night?
An away message with the real time and a few rules for fixed questions. The rest in the morning.
Does the panel have sound notifications?
No. Push and sound notifications are not in this version. Optional Telegram can notify you.
Is automating everything the fastest way?
No. Automate only the fixed questions. The rest is better with a human, and AI text is not sent without admin confirmation.
